Volunteer for Bookmarked! 2012

Plans for Bookmarked! 2012 are already underway, and we need dedicated volunteers to assist us in making sure every aspect of the festival runs smoothly.

Planning sub-committees are identified below, and more needs will be added to this page as details firm up. Please check back frequently for updates.

Sponsorship Committee

This committee will consist of the LDC Development Committee, plus anyone else who would like to assist with the recruiting of event sponsors. We are counting on board members and board of advisors members assisting in this effort. The sponsorship goal is $100,000.

Communications and PR

This committee is responsible for developing and implementing a media/PR strategy, writing and disseminating content about events, preparing print materials (posters, programs, signage, etc.), and documenting events with photos and video.

Sponsor Reception

This committee will organize the private reception for Bookmarked! 2012 sponsors, which will occur on April 28. This will involve planning for invitations, parking, check-in, food and drink, entertainment, book distribution (assisted by Book Sales committee) and awarding of the Lucy Daniels Award to our featured author.

Readings and workshop

The readings committee facilitates and oversees the community readings that take place during the ten days of the Bookmarked! event. The responsibilities of this committee include:

  • scheduling reading sites and recruiting "celebrity-hero" readers
  • enlisting volunteers to assist readers at readings
  • collecting and preparing materials for readings and getting them to the volunteers assigned to each reading
  • following up with sites, readers, and volunteers to thank them
  • coordinating with staff on the teacher/parent workshop

Book Sales

This committee will work closely with Quail Ridge Books and the Readings/Workshops Committee to manage all book sales and related signings, including the Quail Ridge Weekend Sale and any book signings in conjunction with our featured author. These may include the NC Museum of History, workshop/s, the sponsor reception, and other events.
